2. The Yongala - Queensland, Australia
The Great Barrier Reef in Australia is often overrun with tourist and can be very busy which is not always ideal for a peaceful dive. As one of the seven natural wonders of the world, the Great Barrier Reef is truly remarkable. To experience the reef in a unique way, visit the Yongala dive site in Queensland. The S.S. Yongala shipwreck features the remains of the passenger ship which sank off Cape Bowling Green, Queensland in 1911. Travelling from Melbourne to Cairns, the ship encountered a cyclone and sank losing all 122 passengers. The wreck was discovered in 1958 and has since been a famed dive spot, thriving in luscious coral and vibrant sea life.
